About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Analyst - Network Support to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team.
The IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s life-saving mission by managing and maintaining the core IT infrastructure that enables seamless, secure, and reliable technology services across Canadian Blood Services.
In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery, configuration, maintenance, and support of Canadian Blood Services’ core network services and enterprise network infrastructure. This includes technologies such as switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, WAN, VoIP, structured cabling, and network monitoring. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and project teams to ensure the ongoing reliability, stability, and security of our networking environment.Formula for success
Drawing on your skills in network monitoring and troubleshooting, you will assist in resolving day-to-day performance issues, physical and logical connectivity problems, and basic voice call issues. You will support incident response by managing service tickets and requests from internal customers, ensuring prompt escalation to senior team members where necessary to maintain service continuity.
Applying your developing technical skills, you will support the installation and maintenance of network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless access points, and related cabling infrastructure across Canadian Blood Services sites and data centers. You will assist with patch panel and rack installations, follow cable management best practices, and contribute to the maintenance of accurate documentation such as diagrams and support materials.
Leveraging your ability to work collaboratively, you will assist project teams by helping to define networking requirements, coordinating deployment activities, and ensuring necessary change records are opened and tracked through Canadian Blood Services' ITSM system. You will support timely delivery of project tasks aligned with business timelines and standards.
Utilizing your organizational and communication skills, you will support engagement with third-party service providers by assisting in the coordination of service tickets, ensuring appropriate urgency levels are applied, and helping to track issues through to resolution to support timely service restoration for end users.
Gaining hands-on experience in a live enterprise environment, you will expand your knowledge of structured cabling systems, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and enterprise network tools and monitoring platforms, while following security and operational best practices.
Desired education and skills
Post-secondary education in a relevant field, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
An active Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) is required.
Minimum three (3) years of enterprise network implementation and administration experience with Cisco platforms.
Intermediate knowledge of networking essentials and experience in a Cisco environment (cabling, TCP/IP, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, VoIP, monitoring, and protocol analyzers).
Experience deploying and supporting Cisco network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, firewalls, VPN, and security solutions.
Experience of network troubleshooting in an enterprise, cloud environments, VoIP and cellular services, or service development.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate, excellent problem-solving, and ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently or in a team, provide 24/7 on-call support on rotation, and maintain strong organizational skills.

What you can expect
This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40 % of the time/days of the week.
Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day. Flexibility to work some evenings and week-ends.
On call rotation after hours is expected once a month.
Travel requirements - some travel will be required to support sites across the country.
