We are actively seeking individuals eager to enhance their skills, embrace new challenges, and advance their careers within our organization.We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Site Safety Manager to join our team, supporting safety management services for an electrical utility client. You will play a crucial role in the development of a safety team and culture while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, creating safety programs, and mitigating workplace hazards across multiple engineering construction projects within the transmission and distribution (T&D) sector. You will collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and field staff to integrate safety into all phases of project delivery, from design through construction and commissioning. Primary Responsibilities Create and develop safety programs to ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC, OSHA, NERC, and BC safety standards Conduct hazard assessments, job site inspections, and audits to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions Monitor compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and (OSH) Standards, and corporate safety policies Develop and implement internal Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and ensure CIMA+ employees are trained in their use Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans Maintain and update the Project Hazard Log, ensuring safety risks are identified, recorded, and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle Oversee and support the development of Owners Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (OHIRA) for projects Conduct risk assessment in the assignment or retention of Prime Contractors, ensuring appropriate safety measures are in place Act as a safety lead for multiple engineering and construction projects, ensuring safe execution of work Coordinate with Prime Contractors, owner's field staff, and construction management teams to enforce safety protocols Conduct Safety By Design reviews to integrate hazard control measures into engineering plans Provide on-site safety support, including job hazard analysis, field inspections, and safety audits Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements, including limits of approach, confined space entry, and arc flash protection Deliver safety orientations and training sessions to project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors Ensure that all safety documents, incident reports, and compliance records are accurate, up to date, and properly filed Participate in internal and external safety audits to maintain high safety performance standards QualificationsCertification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent) Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory) Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a safety management role within the utilities, engineering, or construction industry Experience in safety leadership roles on projects involving electrical transmission & distribution systems, substations, and high-voltage work Strong understanding of BC safety requirements, WorkSafe BC, and OSHA standards Proven experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety training Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations and industry best practices Strong leadership and communication skills to influence and guide teams on safety matters Ability to interpret engineering plans and integrate safety controls into project designs Proactive and hands-on approach to field safety, with strong problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, incident reporting systems, and safety compliance software Ability to work independently and travel to various project sites as required The expected salary for this position is from $115,000 to $140,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity.
