You will lead project controls functions on complex electrical utility and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet key performance indicators in cost, schedule, scope, and compliance while aligning with our customers internal project controls and project delivery frameworks.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain project controls processes and tools (planning, estimating, monitoring, change control, Earned Value Management)Prepare and manage budgets, track costs, forecast (ETC/EAC), monitor cash flows, and analyze variancesGenerate regular reports for stakeholders (KPIs, EVM metrics, monthly cash-flow)Lead, mentor and develop a team of project controls professionalsCoordinate with Project Delivery Office (PDO), engineering, procurement, finance, and field/client teamsEnsure compliance with policies, regulations and internal procedures related to quality and safetyProject Controls LeadershipLead the planning, scheduling, cost control, and earned value management (EVM) activities across a portfolio of transmission and distribution projectsInterpret and implement internal and project controls strategies from our CIMA+ and clients practices and assist in improving our ownEnsure scope, cost, and schedule are tracked in accordance with PPM lifecycle phases (Identification, Definition, Implementation, Closeout)Planning & SchedulingDevelop resource-loaded baseline and forecast schedules using Primavera P6 and MS ProjectPerform critical path analyses and schedule variance reportingMaintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and ensure alignment with our internal and client systemsCost ManagementPrepare, monitor, and forecast project budgets (EAC/ETC) using SAP and related financial systemsAnalyze variances and support project teams in resolving discrepancies and managing contingencyProvide support to the PM for funding approvals and cost estimate reviewsRisk & Change ControlSupport project managers in identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategiesTrack changes in scope, schedule, and cost; support preparation of Project Change Notices (PCNs) and documentationReporting & ComplianceGenerate internal and client-facing project performance reports (KPI dashboards, EVM metrics, monthly cash flow)Ensure compliance with our clients reporting templates, schedule quality checks, and change management logsCoordinationWork closely with project managers, engineering leads, procurement, construction, safety, finance, and document control to maintain schedule and budget integritySupport coordination of multiple projects in various phases of workLead a team of project controllers to support our portfolio of projects in Western Canada as listed aboveQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field or alternatively a Diploma of Technology or related field.Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in project controls, including 5+ in a leadership roleProficiency in scheduling and cost control tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project) and advanced Excel skillsStrong analytical skills (EVM, variance analysis, forecasting)Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination capabilitiesExcellent communication, interpersonal and team building skillsCertifications preferred: PMP, AACE, CCP, APM, or equivalentExperience with BC Hydro is an assetThe expected salary for this position is from $115,000 to $140,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity.
