JOB OVERVIEW
Provide technical oversight and leadership to several complex design projects, from inception through to turnover to the Operations Team. In this role, you will oversee the development of design specifications and design plans, including scope, key activities, deliverables, resource requirements, milestones, and deadlines, design product quality, project plans and schedules to monitor all activities and apply lessons learned to enable continuous improvement.
Laurentis is seeking dynamic talent to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Engineering. The ideal candidate would have 8 years of experience working in an Engineering leadership role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Working in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations:
The Senior Manager Engineering ensures the definition and maintenance of the design basis and provides assurance to the Chief Nuclear Engineer (CNE) that Engineering activities and outputs of design and design change-related activities regarding facilities, systems, and components are performed in accordance with written and approved procedures and standards by qualified staff. This includes work done by contracted resources.
Manage all technical aspects of multi discipline design projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
Develop and manage all aspects of design oversight plans from conceptual to detail design, including external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, changes, risks and issues
Oversee preparation of estimates for design activities associated with various project
Define technical scopes for work managed through external engineering service providers. Define scopes, schedules, and budgets for work performed by department.
Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle
Monitor, track progress of design deliverables and critical path deliverables
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, senior leadership and key stakeholders
Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
Provide leadership for the Engineering team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
Coach, mentor, motivate and develop program team
Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders
Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas. Specific actions to correct performance deficiencies are prescribed.
Establish and maintain standards, procedures, processes, metrics, and competencies internally and for effective interface with an external engineering service provider.
Ensure outputs of design and design change related activities are technically accurate and are in accordance with all applicable regulations, requirements and accepted professional standards. This includes work done by contracted resources.
Ensure configuration management is sustained.
Lead technical challenges of Design deliverables.
Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature project management capabilities for the organization
Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
8+ years of Engineering leadership experience, including design and project management experience
5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
Experience with Engineering Change control process in the nuclear industry
Professional Engineering Certification from at least one Canadian province
