Job DescriptionPerform surveys on board sea going vessels, i.e., full inspection of ships’ hold for suitability with respect to cleanliness, Draft Surveys, On/Off-hire surveys, Bunker Surveys, Damage Inspections.Ship’s draft surveyBarge draft surveyShip’s on/off hire surveyPre-purchase survey on ocean going vesselsBunker surveysShips hold cleaning consultantInspection of any ship’s compartmentsSupervision of load and stowing of cargosLoading and lashing of deck cargosGrain stability surveyDead freight surveyDraft limitation calculationsStevedore damage surveyDock damage surveyVessel damage surveyP & I surveyOwner’s, Shipper’s Charter’s representative at loading/dischargeInspection of refrigerated compartmentsGeneral cargo damage surveyMarine consultant for Agents, Shippers or TerminalsAny other related duties as required as assigned by the CompanyQualificationsMust have a minimum of 5 -10 years’ experience in conducting Marine surveysA minimum of post-secondary education (College diploma or University degree)Must possess Canadian Foreign Going Master’s CertificateKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIESCapable of operating without being under close supervisionSuperior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essentialMust be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.Extended hours and shift work are required.Ability to work well with others & independently.Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.Works well under pressure.Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
