About the Role:
Discovery Community College is committed to academic excellence and fostering a
dynamic learning environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and
passionate Health Care Assistant (HCA) Clinical Instructor to support and guide
students during their clinical training at Westminster House in South
Surrey/White Rock. This 8-week assignment begins on August 25, 2025, and plays a
key role in preparing students for successful entry into the healthcare
workforce. The clinical placement will follow a fixed daytime schedule,
providing consistency and structure for both the instructor and students. As
Discovery Community College offers regular student intakes across its programs,
there are ongoing opportunities for instructors seeking continued employment
with future cohorts.
The instructor will oversee the student learning experience in a real-world care
setting, ensuring they build the essential skills and confidence required for
success as Health Care Assistants.
This Part-Time opportunity offers variable hours up to 32-40 hours per week
throughout the clinical placement and may lead to continued instructional roles
within the college.
Rate Range: $32 to $35/hour CAD
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings,
providing guidance and support throughout.
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments
aligned with course objectives.
- Supervise students during clinical placements, ensuring safe, ethical, and
competent care practices.
- Ensure compliance with program accreditation standards, regulatory
guidelines, and college policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of full-time nursing experience – required.
- 2800 hours of nursing experience
- nursing experience must include working with older adults with complex
health needs
- Nursing experience must include experience or orientation in home support
and multi-level care
- Ability to teach adult learners (mentoring / instructing)
- Provincial Instructors Diploma and previous experience or
- Aptitude and willingness to learn and obtain an Instructor Diploma (with
our help)
