The administrative team works closely with and supports the Department Chair,
Undergraduate Chair, and Graduate Chair in department operations. At the
undergraduate level, Psychology is the largest department in the Faculty of Arts
and Social Sciences. At the graduate level, we have six core areas of Psychology
as well as the professional Ph.D. training program in Clinical Psychology. Our
team emphasizes a respectful, collaborative, and supportive work culture.
About the Role
Provides administrative support and assistance to the Manager, Academic and
Administrative Services, the Department of Psychology, and the Cognitive Science
Program. Assists with the administration of meetings, conferences, workshops,
seminars, and special events by booking rooms; arranging catering; and
coordinating facilities requests. Responds to information requests from faculty,
staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students about university policies
and procedures and directs them as appropriate. Provides receptionist and
front-line client services, general clerical support and correspondence;
maintaining databases; maintaining departmental information (e.g., directories,
schedules, phone lists, mail-lists, etc.); maintaining departmental office
supplies; processing daily mail; and maintaining the general office area and
office equipment.

Qualifications
High School Graduation and general courses or training of moderate duration
(equivalent to two semester) in word processing, spreadsheet and database
applications and courses in office procedures. 2 years experience. An equivalent
combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is
acceptable. 60 wpm keyboarding with high degree of accuracy. Excellent
interpersonal skills and communication (oral and written) skills. Good
analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Good knowledge
of standard office procedures. Good proofreading and editing skills. Proficiency
with word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Word,
Access, Excel) at an intermediate level. Ability to use web browsers and email
applications (e.g., Explorer/Firefox/Chrome, SFU Mail/Outlook). Ability to use
web editing applications (e.g., AEM) and document publishing applications (e.g.,
Adobe Acrobat). Ability to use enterprise level information systems (e.g.,
SIMS). Ability to perform online searches for information (i.e., customs
declarations/regulations). Ability to maintain accurate records with a high
degree of accuracy. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with a high
degree of accuracy. Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
