Working at GTI will give a co-op student the opportunity to be exposed to a broad range of technologies involved in marine acoustic systems. The student will work as part of the Quality Assurance team or Manufacturing team under the guidance of experienced engineers. This will involve a combination of analytical and hands on work in a lab facility and possible participation in field trials
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze and improve a system, process, procedure, or product by eliminating or minimizing non-value-adding activities
Work with product development, concurrent engineering teams, and production in order to optimize quality planning, minimize pre-production issues, and increase final product quality
Operate under (and contribute to the maintenance of) the GTI Quality Management System
Support implementation of quality plans to ensure initial design meets customer requirements
Ensure quality issues are identified and resolved as early as possible and are included in risk mitigation plans
Conduct root cause analysis of issues found by nonconformance reports, process audits, or corrective / preventative actions
Develop, research, and investigate alternative ways to manufacture a product or deliver a service
Establish and perform statistical analysis of data
QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering student that has completed an Engineering diploma and is in good academic standing while working towards an Engineering degree
Highly motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills - conflict resolution, consensus building, ability to gain buy-in from co-workers and staff in other departments
Strong Communication Skills – presentations, facilitation
Excellent time management
Above average skills in the Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Power Automate, Forms)
Understanding of continuous improvement tools is an asset (Lean, Kaizen, 5S)
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 compliance standards is an asset
