POSITION SUMMARY
The Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for the overall success of the fabrication and packing operations which includes leadership, health and safety, quality, production targets, and operations administration. As the Fabrication Supervisor, you’ll report directly to the Fabrication Manager and lead a dedicated team of 25-35 employees, driving performance and fostering a collaborative, high-energy environment.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Leadership, Management, and Team Building:
Lead the shift by communicating the job expectations, planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and appraising the job results by coaching and counselling employees and issuing corrective actions as necessary
Maintain the workflow by monitoring steps of the whole process, resources & personnel, and making adjustments as necessary
Ensure people are trained, and equipment is in good order
Work closely with the packing, maintenance, scheduler and quality department to ensure targets are met
Motivate people to achieve objectives through communication and feedback
Train and develop people, with high potential and recommend cross-training within the team
Employee Health and Safety:
Maintain a safe and organized work environment for the production areas by maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
Ensure that the team abides by all health and safety policies and procedures
Take immediate action as required when an unsafe situation arises
Encourage people to report all incidents so that proper measures can be taken
Quality:
Maintain quality service by establishing & enforcing quality-related procedures, policies and organization standards
Ensure all products meet quality standards
Ensure downstream scrap is limited to X kg/shift
Do not make, process or ship non-conforming products
Enforce policies and procedures by training, feedback, and corrective actions when necessary, as per the company policy
Production Targets (Adherence and Activation):
Run the daily shift schedule (adherence) with absolute minimum deviation
Achieve daily scheduled production output as per plan
Anticipate risk and take corrective action in advance
Identify negative trends and intervene in advance to achieve output
Operations Administration:
Ensure all procedures, systems and records are managed daily
Take proper action to arrange for staff to fill the last-minute absence
Ensure all daily and weekly tasks such as attendance taking, timecards approvals, quality checks, weekly JSP training, work order checklist etc. are completed in a timely manner
Implement cost reduction, level systems and procedures
Initiate a spirit of cooperation between the departments
Ensure the headcount is as per the plan
Adhere to the daily production schedule to meet daily targets
Responsible for training production personnel and operators
Able to perform other duties as assigned
WHO YOU ARE
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
Post-secondary education is considered an asset
Can Art Supervisory Training Program student or graduate, preferred
Must have at least five years of directly related experience in a production environment.
Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or fabrication facility is a definite asset
Understanding of EPICS or comparable MRP systems
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
Authorization to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship is required.
WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION
Ability to work 12 hours continental shift schedule (Day & Night Shifts)
In-person at our Lakeshore locations
