Keep an accurate record of all work with an eye to reproducibility and recording of costs.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and organize equipment and reactions so they operate in a safe mannerPlan, develop and troubleshoot complex multi-step synthesesExpert knowledge in carrying out a wide variety of organic laboratory techniques including, but not limited to, water and oxygen sensitive chemistry, microscale manipulations, modern organometallic synthetic methodsExperience in the extraction of natural products and/or photochemistry would be an assetThe ability to characterize products of complex structure by independent interpretation of spectral dataPerform process development and researchDevelop methods for separating complex mixtures and using fundamental techniques and advanced purification techniques such as ion-exchange chromatography, reverse-phase chromatography, and automated purification methodsAbility to work on several different projects of varying lengths and complexityQualificationsEssential Competencies and BehaviorsResonates and operates in line with LGC’s core value behaviorsEducation RequirementsPhD or equivalent experience in synthetic organic chemistryHave a competent knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, reagents and common laboratory techniquesCompetencies RequiredWork effectively with strategic and technical guidance.
