The Opportunity
Perform detailed financial variance analysis and business plan preparation as well as completing assignment of extra projects as needed. This permanent position will report to the Plant Controller.
Responsible for preparing and distributing various weekly and monthly analysis as assigned.
Compares actual results against business plan, forecast, and prior year.
Analyzes Gross Margin and Gross Profit to determine impact caused by volume, selling prices, material costs and/or production costs.
Prepares and distributes variance analysis to management along with monthly forecast files
Responsible for weekly and monthly managerial reports, including analysis
Liaises with various departments to assist with data analysis and decision support.
Provides accurate and timely financial reporting for the business unit.
Assists Plant Controller with business modeling to reflect various scenarios and simulate certain outcomes.
Responsible for process improvement and standardization in assigned area
Prepare journal entries as assigned.
Complete month-end closing tasks and month-end reporting, as assigned.
Responsible for process improvement and standardization of processes across organization.
Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis using Business Objects as needed
Review work and test for reasonableness; identify questionable results and investigate root cause
Cross train with other analysts when needed
Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
The Skills you will bring to the team
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. Two to four years of finance experience preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routing database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example of sharing of knowledge/skill.
