In this role you will underwrite small commercial business. Negotiate pricing for new business opportunities and renewals to ensure a profitable book of business within established underwriting authority. What You'll Do Assess and evaluate the risk for new and existing business Provide excellent customer service Analyze reports to resolve adequate exposure and loss ratings. Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing levels and policy form amendments Manage and negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business. Apply loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process. Respond to inquiries from brokers regarding modification to policy files in a timely and efficient manner. Start to build and maintain excellent broker relationships by doing broker visits with other underwriters. Apply negotiation skills to ensure win/win for Aviva, Broker and Customer on a risk by risk basis Apply influencing skills on sophisticated large account customers What You'll Bring Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in the insurance industry ideally in underwriting Strong interpersonal and administration skills. Highly motivated and hard-working. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good digital literacy. Ability to meet challenging deadlines and perform effectively under pressure. Knowledge of the RTM system is an asset. What You’ll Get The salary band for this position ranges from $39,600 to $73,500. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
