Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Program: Return to Work Support Services (RTWSS)
Location: Abbotsford
Employment Status: Contractor
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our
Return-to-Work Services Program. As an Occupational Therapist in this program,
you will play a crucial role in facilitating the successful return to work of
individuals who have experienced work-related injuries or disabilities. Your
expertise in movement and rehabilitation will be instrumental in helping clients
regain their functional abilities and reintegrate into the workforce.
Your work will include:
Comprehensive Assessments:
- Conduct in-depth reviews of medical files and perform interviews to gather
information on clients' occupational history, physical job demands, and
return-to-work options.
- Perform functional assessments to establish baseline function and identify
barriers to returning to work.
Ergonomic Assessments and Cognitive Job Demands Analyses (JDAs):
- Execute detailed ergonomic assessments to evaluate physical demands and
workplace ergonomics.
- Carry out cognitive JDAs to assess mental, emotional, and psychological
requirements of job tasks, aiding in the development of suitable
return-to-work plans.
Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Develop individualized treatment plans outlining program goals, duration, and
anticipated outcomes.
- Assist clients in developing strategies to overcome return-to-work barriers
and manage injury symptoms effectively.
Case Coordination and Communication:
- Serve as the primary contact, maintaining regular communication with case
managers, employers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to monitor
client progress and functional status.
Job Site Visits and Employer Engagement:
- Conduct job site visits to confirm job demands, assess workplace
considerations, and explore graduated return-to-work options.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support during clients' return-to-work process
through follow-up visits and communications.
Graduated Return-to-Work Planning:
- Collaborate with clients to develop structured, graduated return-to-work
plans.
- Ensure all relevant parties receive copies of the plans and monitor
implementation, providing support and adjustments as needed.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive reports, including intake and discharge summaries,
return-to-work plans, and job site visit findings.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and complete required
documentation promptly, adhering to program standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Occupational Therapy Program/degree
- Registered or eligible for registration with CHCPBC
- At least 1 year of experience within a similar responsible role and in a
related type of work setting.
- Travel may be required to other locations in the lower mainland.
