We are looking for a Commercial Counsel with a passion for gaming and
entertainment to join our dynamic team in our Vancouver studio. This person will
support Kabam with commercial transactions across various business groups, and
provide proactive and practical counsel on a broad range of legal and business
issues related to our interactive entertainment business. Reporting to the Chief
Financial Officer, this is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional with
an interest in a broad scope of work adjacent to cutting-edge technology, strong
business acumen, and attention to detail.

In this role, you can expect to:
- Analyze risk management for the company by being the legal subject matter
expert
- Develop and manage organizational framework and process that ensures
regulatory compliance by following relevant laws, regulations, business
rules, and best practices
- Research on issues and compliance surrounding lootboxes, monetization, minor
protection, and data security
- Develop and execute the company's overall legal policy and strategic
direction, supporting the company's long term goals
- Develop and implement internal business governance processes, including
maintaining training for internal business partners
- Support business partners with a wide variety of legal questions and guidance
including analyzing issues, and proposing and communicating solutions to help
business partners to mitigate risks
- Facilitate and provide guidance on cross-functional initiatives like
SOX-readiness
- Manage of legal and contractual aspects of all of company’s commercial
activities
- Manage and protect of company’s IP portfolio, supporting company’s long term
goals
- As part of internal controls relating to financial reporting, approve wire
transfer and cheque payments
- Review, draft and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements,
including technology and cloud services, professional services, marketing or
advertising services, and other business agreements
- Occasional consultation of other corporate topics including but not limited
to M&A matters, corporate governance, commercial real estate, regulatory
compliance, employment matters
Your background includes:
- 3+ years of corporate and commercial experience as a generalist effectively
supporting technology or entertainment businesses.
- A qualified lawyer and member in good standing with a provincial and/or state
bar, BC or California preferred.
- Exceptional integrity and the ability to work on a wide range of legal
matters with a wide variety of internal clients.
- Highly collaborative, intellectually curious, to learn from and grow with the
business.
- Detail-oriented with excellent judgment, to provide business-oriented advice
while mitigating risks.
- Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
with complex and demanding deadlines, and comfortable working without
administrative support.
- Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written, concisely and
professionally with all levels of the organization and other stakeholders
including external counsel

The typical hiring range listed above is specific to candidates located in
Vancouver. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and
competencies, and you’ll have room to grow after you join!
