We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist to lead and manage complex Brownfield Redevelopment projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in environmental site assessments, remediation design, regulatory compliance, and redevelopment planning for contaminated or underutilized properties. This position offers the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams to revitalize properties while addressing environmental challenges and supporting community revitalization.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental engineering, with significant involvement in brownfield redevelopment projects. This role can be based out of any of our office locations, however Ottawa is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead environmental investigations (Phase One/Two Environmental Site Assessments), site characterizations, risk assessments, and remedial design efforts
Coordinate submissions and applications for required approvals including Record of Site Conditions (RSC) submissions
Coordination with Risk Assessors
Collaboration with regulatory agencies including the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, local Conservation Authorities, Source Water Protection representations, and local municipalities
Preparation and review of technical reports, remedial action plans, feasibility studies, and site closure documentation
Peer review of environmental reports and remediation plans submitted by other engineering consultants to confirm compliance with municipal and provincial standards
Coordinate inspection and administer construction contracts, including preparation of requests for quotation, contract change orders and proper invoices for field investigations and/or remediation programs
Assign and coordinate staff assignments and review of work completed by junior staff
Key Position Requirements:
Degree or diploma in Science, Engineering, Hydrogeology or related relevant field of study
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in the consulting environment
Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
Strong, relevant design experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent technical and analytical skills
Enthusiasm to work in a team structure and a willingness to guide, help and collaborate with others
Working knowledge of appropriate design and analysis software
Full knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards
Experience with business development is an asset
Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel
