About the Position:
The primary responsibility of the Officer, Annual Giving is to coordinate direct response initiatives including direct mail, monthly giving, calling campaign portfolios. They are responsible for the development and implementation of donor stewardship and retention activities for all annual giving donors.
Some specific duties:
Coordinates the annual direct mail and calling campaigns (traditional telemarketing and SMS follow up) and works with external agencies to implement them.
Manages the monthly giving program from acquisition to stewardship including the Telephone Town Hall, Impact Reports, milestone celebrations and annual receipting.
Provides more personalized stewardship to donors giving at the intermediate level.
With input from the Senior Officer, Digital and Direct Response and Chief Development Officer develops an annual work plan for the direct response portfolio, participates in setting financial targets, timelines and reporting, and implements activities necessary to meet those targets.
Administers the direct response and digital expense budget including seeking quotes, maintaining tracking, submitting approved invoices and providing regular reporting.
Monitors direct mail, calling campaign and monthly fundraising results, direct response donor analysis and analytics, and metrics, regularly reports on these, identifies areas of concern and strength and makes recommendations arising from the data.
Works with the Senior Officer, Digital and Direct Response to develop integrated campaigns and provides copy for those campaigns.
Liaise with the Senior Officer, Data Assets to ensure data coding, input/output etc. meets direct response needs.
Coordinates with the Supervisor, Generosity Services to develop the necessary resources to respond to annual giving donor inquiries.
Project manages the development and production of donor materials that support direct response programs, including the development of copy.
Coordinate annual review and update of donor letters, fulfillment pieces (e.g. Tribute cards, monthly donor gifts) and packages (welcome and lapsed).
Stays current on industry tools and trends; continually learning and implementing new processes to improve our fundraising presence and success
Demonstrate a commitment to continued education and learning as it relates to philanthropy and making the BC SPCA a provincial leader in fundraising.
Attends and contributes to portfolio, team, department and organization meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you need to have:
Post-secondary education in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-6 years’ experience working in annual giving and direct response fundraising.
Strong persuasive communication (written and oral), documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience managing budgets and external contractors
Experience with Raiser’s Edge 7.0.
Advanced level computer skills: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel; Outlook and Internet.
Exceptional prompt, friendly customer service manner.
Proven skill and ability to assess, analyze and identify problems and potential resolutions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a pleasant enthusiasm and keen interest in team success is integral to contributing to the spirit of the team.
