Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Specialist to support our Digital Health Projects team.
Position Overview
The Specialist on the Digital Health Projects team will serve as a senior member, responsible for providing advanced expertise in digital health technologies, digital health procurements, strategic advisory, and project leadership. The Specialist will lead complex initiatives, manage high-level stakeholder relationships, and provide thought leadership on digital health innovations. This role acts as a bridge between technical solutions and healthcare delivery, ensuring the integration of best practices and compliance in all advisory services.
The Specialist, Digital Health will report to the Manager, Digital Health.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Digital Health Advisory:
Provide senior-level expertise in assessing healthcare organizations’ digital health needs and recommending comprehensive, strategic solutions
Lead high-impact digital health advisory projects, developing long-term digital health roadmaps and strategies aligned with client goals and industry best practices
Guide clients through the adoption and integration of digital health solutions, ensuring a seamless transition and ongoing optimization of technologies like electronic health records (EHRs), telehealth platforms, and AI-driven solutions
Project Leadership:
Serve as the lead for complex digital health projects, managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with healthcare providers, IT departments, and external vendors
Oversee the development and implementation of digital health projects from initiation and execution, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope
Ensure that digital health initiatives are aligned with client priorities, industry guidelines, and emerging healthcare trends
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with high-level healthcare stakeholders, including executive teams, clinical leadership, and IT departments
Act as the primary point of contact for strategic digital health initiatives, facilitating communication between healthcare organizations, technology providers, and regulatory bodies
Lead and facilitate workshops, focus groups, and steering committees with healthcare providers to identify needs, assess technology readiness, and foster collaboration
Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership:
Act as a subject matter expert on the latest digital health trends, technologies, and regulatory changes, providing insights and guidance to both internal teams and clients
Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including the development of case studies, conference abstracts, and presentations on emerging digital health innovations
Represent MMC at conferences, industry events, and webinars, sharing expertise and promoting the organization’s leadership in the digital health space
Data-Driven Decision-Making & Risk Management:
Lead data analytics efforts, leveraging healthcare data to inform strategic recommendations, improve patient outcomes, and identify operational efficiencies
Work with data specialists and healthcare providers to assess performance metrics, track project outcomes, and identify areas for improvement
Develop data-driven models and visualizations to present insights to clients, supporting evidence-based decision-making in healthcare organizations
Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential challenges related to data privacy, security and technology implementation, providing recommendations for mitigation
Provide clients with guidance on regulatory trends and emerging risks in digital health, ensuring their strategies remain compliant with industry standards
Innovation & Process Improvement
Identify and recommend cutting-edge digital health technologies, tools, and best practices that can enhance client operations and patient care
Lead innovation efforts within client organizations, introducing new approaches to digital health and AI-driven healthcare solutions
Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Digital Health team’s advisory services
Administrative/Other Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with other members of the Digital Health team, sharing insights, best practices, and lessons learned to enhance the team’s overall advisory capabilities
At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers
Collaborate with other departments within MMC (e.g. Sourcing, Project Teams, etc.) to integrate digital health initiatives with broader healthcare improvement strategies
Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills
Qualifications and Skills
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or equivalent,
Master’s degree in business (MBA) or a related field is considered an asset
5-7 years of experience in digital health advisory roles or healthcare IT consulting
Strong understanding of healthcare systems and familiarity with digital health solutions
Strong understanding of public procurement guidelines and procurement processes
Familiarity with healthcare regulations and interoperability standards is considered an asset
Experience in providing strategic guidance to healthcare organizations
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly. An ability to compose, edit, fact check, review, and revise wide range of materials, including research, thought pieces, reports, concept papers, presentations, correspondence and basic reports is necessary
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work well independently and as team member. Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Critical thinking in assessing, compiling, and disseminating information is necessary
Computer proficiency, including strong word processing experience, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and various project management software. Willingness and ability to learn appropriate database, spreadsheet, and other computer programs
Skill in determining matters of importance and information of use in accomplishing any related tasks
Ability to give or deny or ask for information in a tactful and friendly manner and to be discreet in giving information to anyone is required
An intuitive ability to recognize and appropriately convey the sensitive nature of any situation and the ability to keep all matters appropriately confidential is necessary
Travel
Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
