As the Category Manager- Logistics, you will serve as the global point of contact for all logistics vendors and transport modes (air, ocean, road, courier, and parcel) on behalf of URUS. You will manage the full vendor lifecycle—from contract negotiation and pricing through operational execution and continuous improvement. You will bring both strategic oversight and tactical execution, ensuring URUS’s global logistics operations are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant.
Vendor & Relationship Management
Act as primary liaison for all logistics vendors
Lead vendor performance reviews
Negotiate contract terms, service agreements, and vendor compliance in collaboration with Legal and Procurement
Freight Procurement & Cost Management
Lead sourcing, RFPs, and tender processes for global and regional logistics services
Evaluate vendor pricing proposals and recommend vendor selections
Track and analyze logistics spend
Support Finance with logistics accruals, budgeting, and cost variance reporting
Operational Logistics Oversight
Oversee day-to-day performance and execution of all logistics modes
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth and timely shipment execution
Mitigate escalations/issues
Drive continuous improvement in delivery performance, transit times, and service reliability
Reporting, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Maintain centralized records of logistics contracts, tariffs, and service agreements
Monitor and report on vendor KPIs
Ensure compliance with trade regulations, import/export requirements, and URUS’s sustainability policies
Identify and implement initiatives to optimize supply routes, consolidate shipments, and reduce logistics costs
Leadership & Collaboration
Act as the logistics SME within the global procurement and supply chain functions
Lead cross-functional logistics initiatives
Provide guidance and support to regional logistics coordinators and operational teams on a global scale
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field required
10+ years of relevant experience in supply chain operations, logistics, warehousing, or purchasing
Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JDE) and Microsoft Excel
Experience managing global vendor accounts and supporting commercial operations
Familiarity with pricing governance, contract execution, and financial controls
Prior experience in agricultural technology, manufacturing, or B2B distribution (an asset)
Proven ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Legal, Customer Service, Logistics)
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across global teams
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation capabilities
Solid understanding of international and domestic logistics processes, including transportation management, inventory planning, customs regulations, and trade compliance
