As Global Application Engineering and Product Manager Upgrades (m/f/d), you will take a pivotal role in developing and managing our upgrade product portfolio. You will contribute directly to our mission of enabling decarbonization and improving lifecycle performance for our customers. This role is essential in ensuring the profitability of our upgrade offerings while driving successful project implementation in alignment with our sustainability goals. We are looking for an Application Engineer to develop innovative upgrade solutions for our Medium- and Low-Speed engine portfolio. Additionally, you will take on commercial responsibility for upgrade projects across multiple engine brands. Finally, a key focus will be commissioning of new upgrade solutions on board vessels, to deliver our strong and growing sales pipeline. In our upgrade team, you’ll be empowered to apply your curiosity and "can-do" attitude, working in a highly collaborative, dynamic environment where building strong stakeholder relationships and having fun go hand in hand with delivering meaningful impact. Your responsibilities: Apply advanced application engineering methods (e.g., thermodynamic modeling, mechanical optimization, engine tuning, turbo matching) to design effective and sustainable upgrade solutions. Provide customers with optimized turbocharging upgrade solutions to increase the benefits over the lifecycle of engine installations. Develop, establish, and profitably grow the global upgrade business in close collaboration with strategic partners, engine designers and end users in line with budget and targets. Supervise commissioning of new upgrade solutions onsite Contribute to the upgrade strategy and implement the product development roadmap, considering market trends, commercial opportunities, and technical requirements. Lead upgrade and retrofit projects as project manager by coordinating internal and external resources across application engineering, design, order processing, and external partner activities. Organize, prepare and lead meetings with the network, strategic partners, engine designers, classification societies, end users and third parties for upgrade projects; ensure proper and efficient information transfer between all parties. Successfully manage all interdisciplinary tasks related to the upgrade business across internal and external interfaces. Gather market insights and listen to customer’s voices to shape new value propositions. Continuously improve internal tools and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability; ensure upgrade-related workflows are well-defined and accessible. Provide training to the global sales force on new offerings and technologies. Your background: Master’s degree in engineering, ideally with focus on thermo- and/or fluid dynamics. At least 5 years of relevant experience in application engineering and performance of large 2-stroke or 4-stroke marine engines. Hand-on experience in commissioning large 2-stroke or 4-stroke marine engines. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Strong communicator, able to work successfully in international and cross-functional teams; indirect cross-functional leadership skills required. Solid understanding of global marine market trends, customer needs, and strategic positioning. Fluent in English, German language skills are an advantage. Willingness to travel as part of various business assignments (20%).
