We are looking to add an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to our
Engineering team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Team Lead - Controls, this
role is responsible for the continuous testing and improvement of components and
sub-components for new products and product enhancements. An ideal candidate
will be a detail-oriented self-starter that enjoys developing innovative
solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Systems
- Develop and support PLC programs and intuitive user interfaces (HMI).
- Contribute to the design, specification, and testing of hardware and
software.
- Perform calibration and testing of sensors and subsystems.
- Work with vendors to evaluate and integrate components into systems
Communications and Network
- Configure network devices (Access Points, Switches, Remote I/Os).
- Integrate communication interfaces (RS-232/485, CAN) with PLCs and embedded
systems.
- Set up industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and
Ethernet/IP.
Lab Test and Commissioning
- Assist with root cause analysis of electrical and electronic components
(e.g., power supplies, signal conditioning, sensor circuits).
- Develop and execute test protocols for hardware/software verification;
measure voltages, currents, and signal integrity using basic test equipment
(e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope).
- Participate in system integration and testing.
- Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot issues on-site or
remotely.
Documentation & Additional Duties
- Document system design and operation (e.g., control narratives, schematics).
- Contribute to the development of standard procedures, test documents, and
work instructions.
- Additional duties as occasionally required by your leader.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Controls system engineering.
- Generally, 2-4 + years’ experience as an electrical/electronics or controls
engineer.
- Exposure to PLC or embedded system programming (any platform, CODESYS is a
plus).
- Familiar with Ethernet networking and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting control panels and printed circuit
board design (PCB).
- Experience with automotive, mobile power equipment, and harsh environments is
an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization skills with attention to details.
- Self-starter, motivated and able to work independently and in teams.
- Health & Safety conscious individual.
- Legally able to work in Canada.

$90,000 - $105,000 a year

The salary offered to the successful candidate will be based on their
experience, knowledge and skills they bring to MineSense, market data based on
their location as well as internal equity. Keeping this mind, the salary offered
can be outside of the range posted.
