Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Architecture, the Project Manager will be a team
leader focused on multi-family and mixed-use projects supported by highly
collaborative design professionals including our planners, designers, project
coordinators, and technologists. The successful candidate brings 5-7 years of
progressive architectural experience within British Columbia. They should be
well-rounded and be particularly familiar with multi-family residential and
mixed-use development projects through all project phases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading architectural projects from their inception through
rezoning, development permit, building permit, and construction completion
phases
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure project goals are
met efficiently and effectively
- Ensure project designs and documentation adhere to applicable codes and
ordinances, guiding projects through the regulatory processes
- Act as a key point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring clear
communication and coordination among internal teams and external
consultants
- Coordinate effectively with all stakeholders including staff, sub
consultants, contractors, clients and authorities having jurisdiction
- Mentor and guide junior architectural staff, sharing knowledge, promoting
best practices and fostering a collaborative environment
- Produce architectural documentation and detailed sketches for all phases of
project work
- Utilize Revit and SketchUp, applying professional standards of design,
documentation and visualization
- Oversee the preparation and review of architectural drawings and
specifications, making adjustments and resolving complex technical issues as
needed
- Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with design intent,
quality standards, and project specifications, conducting site visits as
needed
- Manage client expectations, building strong, positive business relationships
throughout the project lifecycle
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and
design standards within the architecture team
Skills and Abilities:
- 5 to 7 years of local experience in multi-family and mixed-use projects
- Registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of
British Columbia
- Applied understanding of BC Building Code and local by-laws
- Experience using SketchUp, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in all phases of design with the ability to lead and oversee
multiple projects from schematic design through working drawings to
completion of construction
- Strong understanding of building technology with a thorough understanding of
construction detailing of both wood construction
- Thorough knowledge of architectural design documentation, detailing, building
materials and codes, construction techniques
- Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze and understand implications of
modifications to drawings.
- Self-directed with the ability to potentially lead project teams, achieving
project goals within budgets and timelines
- Strong interpersonal and public relations skills to work effectively with
various stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a focus on collaboration and
integration
- Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable to changing demands and priorities
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 per year, commensurate
with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
