The Student Events Coordinator (SEC) is an entry-level student position, working in a team environment, responsible for enhancing student life and creating campus community through a variety of programming initiatives. The SEC will primarily focus on logistical and promotional aspects of Students’ Union events (UASUevents). The SEC will report to the Manager of Programming. The SEC will focus on New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome while assisting in all matters relating to the UASUevents’ portfolio.
UASUevents is currently looking to hire for 2 positions. The positions will focus on development and delivery of New Student Orientation content as well as the Week of Welcome Volunteer program. One of the open positions will take lead on content delivered by Information and Presentation Facilitators while the other will focus on content delivered by Faculty Leaders.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the planning, implementation, marketing, and recruitment of Students’ Union programming and special events including, but not limited to: Week of Welcome, New Student Orientation, Campus Cup, AntiFreeze, Movie Nights, SUBstage Sessions, Night at the Horrorwitz, Last Class Bash, Weekly events, and other events hosted by UASUevents.
Be responsible for aspects of event management of various events, including: logistics, volunteer management, promotions, and same-day coordination
Be responsible for partnership development and relationship maintenance for event success
Support other staff members in their responsibilities, as needed to ensure the success of the entire UASUevents portfolio
Be responsible for communication and major campaigns directed toward students through a variety of forms (Websites, Email Lists, Social Media, Marketing Projects)
Help develop and support the Week of Welcome volunteer programs as well as assist with other UASUevents volunteer teams such as the Events Crew or Media Team. Work within guidelines and recommendations related to volunteer management as set by the organization.
Manage digital assets including the UASUevents Network and digital media projects (still images, videos) for UASUevents
Submit regular reports including monthly reports and project reports.
Train within the Horowitz Events Centre in a variety of event roles
Perform other job-related duties as required by the Manager of Programming and the Manager of Orientation and Events
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be registered as an undergraduate student at the University of Alberta during the term of employment, and must be a Students’ Union member.
Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
Ability and willingness to work with people in a respectful, diplomatic and credible manner.
Ability to develop educational curriculum and deliver content to volunteers and students.
Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suites applications, are recommended. Experience with Mac operating systems, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Illustrator, and Photoshop) will be considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a 12 Month Contract (October 1st, 2025 to September 30th, 2026)
37.5 hours per week May– August and 25 hours per week from September till the end of April.
Willingness and ability to work varying hours – including weekends and evenings.
