Reporting to the HSE Manager, Southern Alberta, the HSE Coordinator supports the project team in safe production throughout the lifecycle of a project. They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with the right safeguards in place. The HSE Coordinator will be based on-site, in a full time fixed-term position supporting construction projects in Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. With an expected duration of 18-24 months, this is a great opportunity for local candidates interested in a career in Health & Safety. With regular support & guidance from an existing HSE Coordinator within Bird, you'll be able to independently manage your own area of responsibility while discovering your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment. What You Will Be Working On Incident management- initiate notifications, and ensure incidents/accidents are reported, investigated, and documented Conduct orientations for new workers and visitors, and provide training to Bird employees Validate equipment, processes, and worker competency; inspect onsite safety equipment Conduct frequent site inspections, addressing HSE issues and completing documentation Develop reports, research HSE information, create site-specific safe work procedures, and provide guidance Review activities of new trades and ensure compliance with HSE requirements Evaluate changing site conditions with Bird Project Management for unidentified risks Collaborate with trade partner HSE representatives and workers to address safety concerns and resolve issues Address non-compliance issues and utilize the right to stop unsafe work if necessary What We Are Looking For Previous experience in Health & Safety or construction is a strong/preferred asset Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude Exemplify the Ideal Team Player – Hungry, Humble, Smart Valid Class 5 Drivers license w/ an abstract in good standing We Put Safety First A healthy and safe work environment is non-negotiable.
