About the Role
The Manufacturing Technician A – Optical Assembly position is responsible for aligning and bonding optical components (precision lenses) using optical alignment equipment. They operate various precision optical equipment to assemble lenses with sound technical problem-solving skills. They perform final inspection of complicated optical elements and assemblies.
Primary Responsibilities
Assemble and/or troubleshoot optical assemblies following all established manufacturing processes and procedures in alignment with AS9100 standards
Inspect/measure optical components to ensure conformity to specified tolerances
Support the manufacturing procedures and detailed instructions, using our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Configuration Management system
Support the development of new manufacturing processes and make improvements to current manufacturing processes
Desired Education and Experiences
Diploma in Photonics or Mechanical Engineering Technology or a minimum of 12 months experience in a related discipline
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong technical knowledge, capabilities
Previous work experience in an AS9100 and Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles an asset but not required
Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
Ability to safely handle delicate optical parts
Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills that translate into working in a team-based environment
Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions
Ability to effectively operate complicated equipment such as Optical Turntables and associated equipment including measurement tools
