About Us
The AECON Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out equipment dismantling of the Units 2 and 3 of the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant. The project involves removing the non-nuclear equipment and components from the Turbine Hall and Turbine Auxiliary Bay. Project consists of several phases: Planning, Execution and Closeout.
The Project Controls Specialist will support the project team in monitoring and controlling the EPCM cost and budget, estimating, planning/scheduling and change management of the project. The primary role will focus on cost control.
What You'll Do Here
Project Controls Manager in establishing project control policies and preparing, implementing and monitoring plans
Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines
Liaise with external groups (Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Construction, etc.) to gain inputs into Project Controls reports
Create & maintain project status update reports, forecast reports & project dashboards; ensure timely issuance to internal & external stakeholders (per client requirements)
Create & maintain customized reports or dashboards to adapt to evolving risks & project needs
Develop and maintain resource plans, ensuring cost & schedule alignment
Regularly conduct variance analysis to understand trends & other baseline deviations in support of rigorous change management; provide variance narratives & propose corrective actions or recovery plans
Prepare Earned Value Management KPIs to assess project performance
Assist in the creation & maintenance of tools & templates that ensure compliance with the processes outlined Project Controls plan & contract requirements
Develop and maintain a change log to track all internal & external changes, and monitor progress through the change management process
Review the contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management, and all other Project Controls areas
Proactively monitor forecasts to ensure timely closure of closed cost accounts
Assist in monitoring staff performance and quality of work through providing coaching/mentoring and training to project team members
Monitor project resource requirements and assist with delegating shift assignments accordingly
What You Bring To The Team
Minimum 3 years of project controls experience
Knowledge of PM+ and other project management tools would be an asset
Experience in an EPC environment is preferred
Advanced knowledge and experience in Primavera Project Manager would be an asset
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines
People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients
A strong leader who can motivate and engage a team with demonstrated strength in leading highly complex groups
An excellent written and verbal communicator with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills
Commitment to working in a team environment
