RBC Business Financial Services – Technology & Operations engineers build the next-generation technologies that change how millions of people interact with financial information and one another. The RBC BFST team offers the opportunity to leverage our epiX mega-journey transformation program to develop innovative solutions to our most challenging problems for RBC’s commercial banking customers. You will be working in an agile, innovative and autonomous data engineering team to deliver business values continuously. You will also be responsible for evolving the BFS data engineering landscape to enable adoption and integration of new technology. You will identify, research, analyze, recommend, and execute solutions to drive an outstanding client experience and strong business impact. What will you do? As a Data Engineer, you will architect and implement cloud-native data pipelines and infrastructure to enable analytics and machine learning on rich datasets. You will collaborate, innovate, support, and build tools and solutions to help drive the data science initiatives in a flexible, start-up environment. You will tackle real RBC data science challenges working as a member of a diverse group which includes data scientists, data engineers, domain experts and developers. You will work with others in the team to tackle challenges and help the team setup next generation of the data science platform. You will design solutions, including deploying open-source tools on RBC infrastructure, building missing functionality to existing data tools, manage and support the various tools used for the data science work done in the bank. You will be leveraging our on-premises and cloud infrastructure along with other resources, tools, and environments to support advanced data applications. You will also be researching industry best practices to add missing pieces to the data stack here at RBC You will work both independently and as part of a team to research, test, and ideate various solutions to business problems. You will work to build, support, and deploy solutions as well as manage infrastructure of various applications. You need to have a passion for building robust, stable, and scalable infrastructure and commitment to continuously improve and adapt existing applications and pipelines. You will be working in a start-up like setting where fast-fail is highly valued, level of uncertainty is high, and requirements are not all defined in advance. You will be required to challenge the status quo, and think outside the box to develop and design solutions. You will need to be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams and be able to work closely with stakeholders to drive business outcomes. What do you need to succeed? As a rapidly growing team, you will play a key role in defining our processes and work on building solutions that are future proof and can scale across use cases. Must Have: Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or other related discipline with experience in DevOps pipelines, and programming in Python Knowledge of distributed data processing pipelines using PySpark Experience working with workflow management platforms like Airflow Experience with messaging (Kafka, Solace, RabbitMQ) Knowledge of Data Science concepts, knowledge of containerization of applications using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift etc. Analyze and understand requirements for user stories and implement accordingly Experience working with a wide variety of technologies and tools. You've worked in agile environments and are comfortable iterating quickly. High Proficiency with Python and experience in REST API development using Python Nice-to-have 2+ years in helping build scalable applications, manage Devops pipelines, continuous deployment experience or operations experience Experience using DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins, Vault etc. Knowledge of Git, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, Agile/Scrum development methodology Prior exposure to building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitHub, Jenkins, UCD.
