JOB OVERVIEW – Health Services provides 24-hour nursing aide care for the medical management of offenders. The purpose of this position is to provide direct care and medical case management to the inmates placed in medical care. Medical management includes:
Arranging for admission into medical areas and communicating with staff.
Assisting in activities of daily living for offenders such as transfers (including use of mechanical lifts), bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, etc.
Assisting nurses and physicians by doing vital signs, patient check ins, and treatments such as EKG’s.
Recording patient care in an EHR system, including vital signs, food and liquid intake, urinary and fecal output, ADL cares, etc.
Assist in maintaining inventory and equipment control by completing tracking logs and inventory control counts for tools, syringes and other medical equipment and purchase of medical supplies. Assist in maintaining oxygen tanks and service equipment.
Provides security and safety within the confines of the institution.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years of job related experience.
May be certified in Basic Life Safety.
Graduation from a Nursing Training Program is preferred but not required.
Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted.
