The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Operating in a culture of cooperation and collaboration, we achieve our goals and objectives based on values of student-focused solutions, integrity of academic records and continuous innovative improvements.Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Officer plays a key role in advancing U of T Mississauga’s international recruitment strategy. Dedicated to attracting high-achieving students from around the world, the Officer has significant responsibility for building relationships with schools, counsellors, and other partners abroad. Working collaboratively with team members, the Officer develops and implements strategies that support U of T Mississauga’s recruitment and enrolment objectives, with a strong focus on engaging international audiences. In this role, the Officer promotes both U of T Mississauga and the University of Toronto domestically and internationally, positioning the institution as a top destination for talented students.The Student Recruitment Officer develops, plans, and coordinates in-person and virtual events and programs to represent U of T Mississauga. The Officer advises prospective students and their families on recruitment and admissions, and serves as the primary contact for high schools in Canada and abroad with large international student populations. In this capacity, the Officer builds relationships and implements initiatives that create pathways for international students to gain admission to U of T Mississauga.The Student Recruitment Officer fosters strong relationships across academic and non-academic divisions, departments, and student groups at U of T Mississauga and the wider University of Toronto. This ensures internal stakeholders are well informed about recruitment activities and, where possible, engaged in the recruitment process. The Officer also works closely with the Manager of the English Pathway Programs and is responsible for promoting and marketing these programs.The Student Recruitment Officer must hold a valid driver’s license in good standing and be prepared to arrange and undertake extensive travel outside Ontario, including trips of up to three weeks at a time. The role requires setting up presentation equipment, delivering multiple presentations per day, and lifting and carrying promotional materials weighing up to 25 lbs.Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting detailed data analysis to inform recruitment strategies and plans
Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of program advantages compared to competitor programs
Delivering student recruitment presentations
Providing detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants
Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
Providing detailed explanations of admissions decisions
Responding to service requests in a timely fashion
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of four years’ experience in a university or post-secondary environment
Experience in student recruitment, admissions, and/or student services within the post-secondary sector
Proven ability to present to diverse audiences and to plan and coordinate group events or programs
Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution abilities, with a demonstrated record of tact and diplomacy
Knowledge of a wide range of high school curricula, English language proficiency requirements and testing options, and U of T admission requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, webinar platforms, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
