In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research, collecting data, analyzing findings and preparing summaries and reports that are of interest to the Member of Parliament. Primary responsibilities: Manages the Parliamentary Office and oversees the day-to-day operations; Manages, triages and reviews the Member’s emails and communications; Researches, analyzes and identifies information for the preparation of briefings and correspondence; Supports the Ministerial Parliamentary Affairs team to prepare the Member for House of Commons and committee work; Supports the Ministerial team and their operations at the Parliamentary Office; Reviews news media to ensure that the Member and staff are continually kept abreast of emerging and evolving issues and of areas of possible interest or concern; Represents the Member’s office at meetings as necessary to ensure the Member is kept apprised of developments that may have an impact on their work; Performs other related duties within the scope of the position at the Member’s request, such as drafting correspondence and reviewing it for factual accuracy and clarification. Salary: $40,000 – $42,000 per year Start date: As soon as possible. QualificationsEducation:University degree or post-secondary education from a recognized institution in political science or a related field, combined with experience working with senior management OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience. Experiences: Experience working in an office setting providing research and legislative support; Experience conducting research and analysis to distill complex information into clear, concise briefs or summaries. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); Superior written and verbal communication skills, Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively manage a busy calendar.
