Job Description What is the opportunity? You will be overseeing RBC’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws as well as RBCs Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy as it relates to Personal Banking and Commercial Banking (PB&CB) business. As Senior Manager, Risk Management, you will make a positive impact by focusing on Privacy risk in PB&CB 1st Line of Defence. While initial focus is on Privacy Risk, the role is envisioned to gradually expand to also supporting Data Risk for PB&CB. This position is full time and will require you to work a minimum of 4 days in the office per week with the option to work one day from home. What will you do? Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program for PB&CB, helping ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations and internal policies. Be responsible for data, privacy and compliance regulatory requirements in the Canada, Caribbean and the US regions, leveraging knowledge to monitor, review, report, fulfil and service Privacy Incidents, Privacy-related requests, and other Privacy Risk Management activities applicable to PB&CB. Includes, advising on privacy design requirements, conducting privacy risk assessments, identifying and mitigaging privacy risk exposures, and other privacy queries. Identify, document and track privacy risks and recommend actions (i.e. control activities), reporting of the risk position as required through formal organizational risk management processes and investigations. Initiate and own risk mitigation methodologies required to prudently manage risk exposures applicable to PB&CB. Develop partnerships with stakeholders, PB&CB 1st line teams, Group Risk Management, Global Privacy and Compliance in identifying risk-related issues and raising awareness and understanding of risks associated with PB&CB Develop and facilitate privacy training to improve employee awareness. Drive culture of by advocating for privacy by design and integration of the RBC privacy principles, accountability and sharing of best practice. What do you need to succeed? Must-have Strong privacy background, including minimum of 5 years privacy experience. Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations and practices in Canada and experience of applying these in practice. Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and problem-solving skills with focus on attention to detail. Strong administrative, documentation, planning and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage competing demands. Self-sufficient with the ability to work indepdently and in a team environment. Experience with process mapping, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Aptitude for learning technical systems and applications (not limited and as applicable to role and primary responsibilities): MS products – Excel, Word, Access, Outlook etc. Nice-to-have Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations and practices in Canada, US and Caribbean, experience of applying these in practice. Relevant privacy experience in Financial Services, delivering cross-company and/or jurisdiction privacy programs/initiatives. Progressional designation/privacy qualification (such as CIPP/E or Practitioner Certification) is highly desirable.
