The Community Recreation and Culture Branch is looking for a Personal Training Coordinator that is personable, knowledgeable, growth-oriented, and possesses a positive and supportive attitude. We are seeking someone with a passion for creating exceptional experiences for members at Recreation Centres across the City of Edmonton. What you will do:
Ensuring team accountability for business deliverables through target setting, follow-up, feedback and staff support
Managing client intake and assignment processes, client-to-trainer assignments, client leads and lead generation activities
Researching, developing, implementing and evaluating personal training programs and services
Collection, documentation and reporting of key performance indicators relating to registered program fill rates, personal training session booking rates, client conversion and retention rates
Recruiting, hiring and training new personal training staff
Overseeing day-to-day management of personal training staff, including, but not limited to, payroll, scheduling, evaluating performance, providing feedback and addressing concerns or areas for growth
Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to the personal training team, fostering a positive, supportive and collaborative work environment
Working with trainers to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a positive client experience
Building collaborative relationships and liaising with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Maintaining knowledge of and participation in fitness services, programs, and products
Ensuring accurate program information is available online
Preparing promotional materials in coordination with the Communications team, such as website maintenance and updates, social media, in-facility digital boards, street signage and posters
Providing high-quality customer service and personalized attention
Addressing any conflicts or issues that may arise within the training team and/or clients, ensuring a smooth and productive work environment and positive customer experience
Implementing and maintaining staff and client health and safety measures
Monitoring program and staffing budgets to ensure they are within assigned budgets and reviewing program and service fees
Working on special projects to improve efficiency, quality, and keep pace with industry trends and growth
Other duties as required
Completed degree/diploma in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, Personal Training or related field.
Completed one of the following current certifications or equivalent:
CSEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
NSCA – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Fitness Alberta – Certified Personal Fitness Trainer (CPFT)
CanFitPro – Personal Training Specialist (PTS)
Supervisory experience including coaching and mentoring staff
Minimum 1-year full-time experience in program delivery; experience must focus on individual and small group fitness services and products
Assets:
Additional fitness-related certifications & training
5+ years of Personal Training Experience
Skills required for success:
A team-focused individual with outstanding skills in the areas of communication (verbal, written and presentation/facilitation), problem-solving, organization, time management, conflict resolution, as well as a proven track record in providing excellent customer service; exemplary interpersonal skills needed
Experience creating and delivering training seminars
Experience in budget monitoring and reporting
Experience in customer service and the ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner
Proven experience building and maintaining or growing a business and attracting new clientele
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to conduct effective needs assessments and exercise prescription
Possess passion, ambition, drive, and knowledge regarding the fitness industry and emerging trends and practices
Current knowledge of successful processes for developing, delivering and evaluating fitness services and programs
Ability to work independently and professionally within a team environment
Exceptional organizational and time management skills including ability to prioritize work
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Intelli (RAMS)

Conditions of employment:
Valid First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, ability to work evenings and weekends as required
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary: $30.741 - 38.579 (Hourly)
