Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards.

Education Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute Licenses Valid Class 4 driver's license Other Education and Training Current CPR certification International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Competencies Basic - Interpersonal skills Verbal communication skills Listening skills Written Communication Skills Knowledge and Abilities Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues Ability to exhibit situational awareness Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook) Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care Ability to be resilient Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Other Information Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
