The primary responsibility of the position is to perform safe, quality repairs to customer equipment in a timely manner, utilizing experience and continuous process improvement to contribute to our team and work environment.
Responsibility
Perform all types of repairs and maintenance to transportation equipment
Perform all tasks to best practices timelines
Provide necessary hand tools for job completion
Perform welding, including arc, MIG, Aluminum, Steel, air arc, plasma cutting and acetylene cutting
Perform all types of brake, suspension, air system, electrical and body repairs
Perform government safety inspections
Ensure all parts and consumables being used are recorded on the work order at time of use
Keep work area in standard operating condition at all times, including tools stored in standard locations
Occasional road service calls for emergency service
Promote a safe work environment, follow safety standards at all times and ensure timely reporting of any Health and Safety issues
Other work as may be defined
Administration
Ensure work order accuracy by providing real-time entry of work performed and parts used
Understand repair standards and identify variances to support continuous improvement
Attend staff meetings and training, after hours if required
Working shift work when required, including weekends
Working away from shop for emergency service calls
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training
Grade 12 or equivalent with technical training
310J Trailer certification
Skills and Experience
Certified to perform government inspections: trucks, trailers, tankers
Able to use large tools typical of transport equipment repair shop
Professional and respectful communication skills
Strong technical skills related to transportation equipment
Fluent in reading and writing in English
Minimum 2 years welding skills
