Are you our next Analyst, Route Panning and Transportation?
The Routing Planning and Transportation Analyst is responsible for analyzing Dynacare transportation routes and operations across Canada for the purpose of identifying cost savings opportunities and overall improvements. You are responsible for delivering routing and route structure using the Decartes Route Planner (RP) system to achieve route optimization and logistics network improvements. Additionally, maintains functional and up to date the the Logistics ERP system, RP, Transportation metrics, SOPs, and other transportation systems. You will also ensure that these processes are in line with growth and operational excellence goals to support the achievement of Dynacare vision, mission, strategic and operational objectives in line with Dynacare’s values.

How YOU will make a difference:
Routing:
Uses Descartes Route Planner software (and other required mapping software) as a tool to produce the most cost-effective and efficient route sequence for each individual driver and for the market overall by sequencing stops in accordance with customer attributes and efficient mileage.
Present route plans to stakeholders and Implements routing strategy on a per case basis.
Creates cost-effective and optimized solutions by analyzing the correct combination of company fleet. Analyzes 3rd party stops and runs.
Produces accurate and attainable standards for each driver specifying drive time and service time.
Communicates routing changes to drivers and supervisors on an ongoing basis.
On a regular basis, performs ‘what if” scenarios and offers routing solutions to reduce routes and improve service
Designs logistics network for Dynacare (Eats, West and central)
Maintains Logistics ERP system data accuracy and synchronization to Route Planner and other applications
Trains employees in the use of Route Planner and Logistics ERP systems
Documents routes and routing instructions, assumptions and processes
Analyses and Reports:
Supports transportation departments across Canada analyzing their expenses through a Time Management and Route Profitability Report to provide a clear understanding of expenses that leads to reduce these costs. Creates the National weekly or Monthly Time Management and Profitability reports and submits this Logistics directors. Analyzes the General Ledger for accurate P&L reporting.
Analyzes third party costs and trends in order to identify opportunities to reduce costs. Reviews proposals and compares this to our fleet and other scenarios to provide a business recommendation.
On a regularly basis creates Transportation Productivity dashboard (TPD) or other current productivity tool and submits to management. Ensures the accuracy of the regional TPD reports by following standard processes and pulling appropriate data from various sources.
Leads discussions with transportation management on TPD variances and submits TPR to different levels of the organization as required
Assists transportation departments to set up attainable drivers’ goals and departmental goals. Reviews them frequently to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Rolls up driver performance metrics to identify performance trends. Rolls up data on a more frequent basis on lower performers. Meets with Drivers and Supervisors to discuss driver performance and follows up to ensure performance issues have been corrected.
Audits fleet inventories to efficiently meet business needs by ensuring correct number of trucks for work available, databases accuracy, etc. Assists National Fleet Manager on analytical needs.
Analyzes transportation/system processes for problem identification and resolution. Reviews and analyzes results of error patterns and recommends corrective action to management. Sets timelines for resolution and/or improvement. Monitors implementation of corrective actions to ensure completion and follow-through. Write down SOPs and policies as required.
Supports regional logistics departments in drivers training and compliance with new regulations and/or company policies or initiatives.
Assists sales and customer care defining lead times and delivery methodologies across Canada.
Prepares customer density reports and discusses with Sales personnel and other related departments to find opportunities to condense routes and reduce drivers’ miles.
Assists transportation personnel with their technology needs: Mobile app, Courier system, Trans Database, Routing Software, etc. Maintains and enhances currents Transportation Databases and create new databases able to provide timely and accurate information to the management team.
Maintains Routing System up to date and accurate.
Acts as system administrator for transportation systems: Order, fleet and route planning.
Performs other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
What YOU bring to the role:
A high degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues
University degree in Business, Science or Engineering
A recognized logistics and/or supply chain certification (CITT, P.LOG) will considered an asset
Understand issues that drive the business and how to effectively support the business to enhance growth
General knowledge of medical laboratory and health service logistics operations
Understand logistics process systems and logistics benchmarks
General knowledge of vehicle fleet and drivers’ technologies and trends
Proven ability to excel at strategic thinking and planning as well as tactical implementation
Industry experience and a demonstrated track record in continuous improvement within an integrated logistics function, including superior technical knowledge fleet, drivers and H&S in transportation
Logistics leadership in a forward thinking and health service-based organization
Comfortable with ambiguity, enjoys dealing with complexity and is at his/her best when balancing multiple projects within a dynamic, fast paced, high demand environment.
Strong knowledge on Fleet technology and trends, and drivers/vehicles’ health and safety.
Ability to perform financial and feasibility analysis on vehicle fleet.
Capability to develop, implement and continuously improve Logistics Department functions
Full proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio)
Project Management skills
A team player. A process-oriented mind-set with a track record of demonstrating superior business judgement
