We’re looking for a Line Technician to join our Production team based in in Vancouver, BC. This individual will report to the Production Supervisor.
Job Overview: The Line Technician supports the daily production activities to ensure equipment operation and effectiveness. This individual will perform running line adjustments, disassembly and assembly of equipment, assist with line changeovers and movement of equipment. The Line Technician will complete cleaning tasks, replacement of simple wearable components and maintain change parts such as dies, molds and tooling. The incumbent will ensure production hand tools are in the tool boxes, tool cribs and shadow boards, ensure hand tools are in good order and available at all time; they will also monitor and maintain stock levels of production line consumables such as o-rings, seals, gaskets, blades, hardware, inks and solvents.
You will have the opportunity to:
Make line adjustments to belt tracking, belt transition points and noses bars, detailers, salters, stringers, depositors, extruders, film and transfer, foilers, flow and over wrappers, inkjet and laser printing equipment
Monitor the production lines to ensure the best mobility of chocolate pieces and make adjustments as necessary to help ensure product quality
Complete line changeovers and movement of equipment such as the snowballer, stringing, detailing, salting, extruding, depositing, melting, pumping, printing and moulding equipment
Change sizes for boxes, printing and flow wrappers
Disassembly and re-assembly of auxiliary equipment such as stringers, depositors, salters, dies, molds and pumps for cleaning
Work with the maintenance department on any complex repairs or maintenance
Replace wearable parts such as o-rings and gaskets on tooling plates including the Ewema 303, extruder blades, nut cluster wires, foiler rubber pads etc
Maintain change parts for extruder die plates, depositor tooling plates, guillotine blades and foiler fingers and caramel cutters in cold kitchen and vegan areas
Ownership of changeover hand tools to make sure all hand tools are put back, available and in good working order; stock levels and re-ordering of any consumables such as o-rings, gaskets, cutting blades and hardware are monitored and available
Preform other duties as assigned
You will be a good fit if you have:
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a food production or manufacturing environment is essential.
Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, including mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Strong familiarity with the operation and maintenance of industrial equipment, specifically chocolate processing systems, conveyor belts, sealing machines, and packaging machines.
Demonstrated proficiency in performing both mechanical and electrical diagnosis and repairs on production line machinery.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing downtime.
Strong background and familiarity with different mechanical and electrical parts and components, able to identify, sort, and source spare parts as needed.
Able to work and use of power tools, testing equipment, and heavy machinery.
A post-secondary diploma or certificate in a relevant field such as Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, Electromechanical Technician, or a related trade program is highly preferred.
Certification in relevant safety protocols (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry) is considered an advantage
Certification in operating counterbalance forklifts is considered an advantage
