Job Description: Job Summary The Payroll Accountant is responsible for all accounting aspects of bi-weekly payroll processing of salaried and hourly employees. This includes but is not limited to: generating payroll journals, reconciling liability accounts, managing the payments to third party vendors, dealing with queries on accounting entries and processing ad hoc journal entries. They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a professional attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of an organization. Key Accountabilities Processing a number of bi-weekly payroll journals in a timely, accurate and discrete fashion for the territory. Ensuring suspense and liability accounts are regularly reconciled and cleared. Preparing various third-party payments by completing appropriate vouchers and documentation while ensuring payments are remitted accurately and on time. Preparing accounting entries as required and responding to queries on these entries. Assisting with payroll processes if required. Education and Experience Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in finance/ Accounting stream CPA certification (or working towards one) At least three years of related experience preferably in a large organization with multiple unions. Proficiency and working knowledge of computerized payroll systems Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills, judgement and concentration in the completion of complex reconciliations and preparation of complex payroll entries. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $55,693.49 to $69,616.86 with a maximum of $83,540.23. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
