Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will work on accounting and financial management functions. As, the Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in finance department preparation of financial statement for the management and board. This role will be responsible for cycle of accounting, Fixed assets, contract monitoring, banking and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate at a strategic level monitoring, assessing, interpreting, highlighting and reporting on the fiscal performance of the PCH with respect to resource utilization, expenditure patterns, statistical and critical indicator data, and the meeting of budgetary targets. Where appropriate, the Senior Analyst recommends corrective action to members of the executive team.
Provide analysis of operational performance, expense performance, and working capital.
Identify problems with respect to general ledger accounts and procedures and propose changes.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of project deliverables.
Prepare accurate Monthly, quarterly and yearend financial statement package in a timely manner.
Prepare supporting working papers and assist in preparation of year – end audit package.
Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted expenses, providing insights into cost drivers and developing plans and making recommendations for gaps.
Prepare accurate reports in timely manner for the Ministry and OH submission (ARR, MIS Quarterly reports, occupancy report etc.).
Analyze financial data to provide insights into the financial health of LTCH and support strategic planning.
Monitor inventory, Fixed asset, accounts receivable, residents trust funds, donations funds and Ministry funds
Prepare weekly cashflow projects and monitors the cash balances.
Lead to improve process effectiveness and efficiency by partnering with other departments and key stakeholders and prepare documentation of procedures with adequate internal control.
Lead month end closing, including journal entry preparation and reconcile balance sheet accounts, general ledger analysis.
Develop and analyze ad hoc financial reporting to support services as required.
File GST/HST filing, Government filing in a timely
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field Undergraduate Degree in Accounting and Finance
Strong preference for Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CGA/CMA) or working towards the designation.
minimum 5+ years of Extensive experience in financial analysis within the healthcare or long-term care industry
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and, proficiency with Adaptive, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Ceridian Dayforce is an advantage.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and industry best practices.
Strong leadership, adaptability, interpersonal and collaboration skills are essential for this role, including the ability to build strong relationships.
Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated effectiveness at leading and working with teams, including supporting collaborative design of products with cross-functional groups.
