Experience
Previous experience must include at least 1 year in Emergency nursing
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Other Education and Training
Required to be SANE certified and maintain that certification
Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Requires adult SANE training accredited by Inter’l Assoc of Forensic Examiners.
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or other trauma assessment course desired
Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to use compassionate sensitive approach relating to victims & families
Superior interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Ability to deal tactfully, non-judgmentally and effectively with people
Ability to perform technical emergency nursing duties with skill and competence
Demonstrates an understanding of Emergency Department flow and function
Ability to identify needs of sexually assaulted patients in a timely manner
Ability to ascertain when the situation would require a physician’s attention
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities
