Job Description
Under the supervision of the department, the health and safety technician will propose and implement concrete and effective actions and maintain and develop various programs to promote OHS.
Role and responsibilities
Collaborate on the annual prevention plan and objectives with your superior.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
Participate in the occupational health and safety committee and do the required follow-ups.
Analyze the risks of the work environment and recommend corrective actions accordingly.
Support inspections and audits, recommend corrective or preventive actions and follow up on them.
Conduct accident investigation and analysis.
Respond and provide assistance in emergency situations.
Identify issues when modifying or adding work equipment.
Initiate and coordinate accident prevention activities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in OHS and prevention.
Coordinate practical training for employees (overhead cranes, forklifts, elevator trucks, WHMIS, etc.).
Coordinate equipment inspections according to the frequency established with maintenance or an external firm.
Prepare, present and coordinate various health and safety training sessions.
Develop and update required indicators and statistics.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
College diploma in an appropriate discipline (OHS, ergonomics, kinesiology or other).
Knowledge and experience in ergonomics (an asset).
Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in prevention in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of the laws and regulations in effect in the field.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Mastery of current computer software (Word, Excel, power point, etc.).
Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change.
Great autonomy and resourcefulness.
Dynamism, passion and commitment.
Rigor and consistence.
Master the French language and English (communication with suppliers/customers in the United States).
