Position Details: HCCA’s Protection Products business distributes automobile protection and insurance (warranty) products nationally through our franchised dealer/distributor networks. The Senior Manager, Protection Products leads the design, development and implementation of key business processes, including product, pricing and profitability strategies for the Protection Products business. The incumbent will collaborate with the Director to: (a) define operational processes and systems, develop business requirements, and support project implementation; and, (b) review and analyze the current product suite based on competitiveness, pricing/profitability, margin optimization, reserve level maintenance, and implement program modifications. Working with the Director, the incumbent will present product pricing strategies to the Product & Pricing Committee, including Senior Management, and implement strategies to meet the objectives of the annual protection products business plan.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operations and Process Management:
Work closely with the Protection Products Director, Third Party Administrator, Sales Team, and other internal functions to effectively manage the protection products business for our partner OEM automotive brands.
Define, document and analyze current business processes. Formulate recommendations, develop solutions and execute on recommendations. Work with teams to solve problems, encouraging a diversity of opinions while lending expertise to the process and working with business areas to implement solutions.
Support key initiatives such as Business Process Mapping and the development of Business Requirements Documents. Requires project management, planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting.
Develop a broad understanding of HCCA’s strategy and business; and understand current OEM operating processes and assess effectiveness.
Product Development and Pricing:
Oversee product and pricing strategies through optimal market positioning while achieving performance targets.
Lead pricing function from actuarial loss development to final market pricing for a broad suite of protection and insurance (warranty) products (service contracts, GAP waivers, lease-end protection, etc.).
Analyze automotive dealership and customer data, financial data, demand trends, and industry dynamics to action new product and pricing initiatives.
Develop and execute annual pricing strategies based on risk and profitability analysis, including collaboration with third party insurance companies, actuarial consultants, and administrators to implement annual pricing adjustment.
Work closely with Finance to manage portfolio profitability and develop actionable plans for profitability enhancements.
Deliver quarterly portfolio analytics to ensure optimal pricing vs. claims risk.
Support regular business reporting.
Work Experience:
5-7 years of professional experience specific to the marketing of insurance products and/or extended warranty service contracts – preferred experience includes a focus on automotive Extended Warranty sales and marketing, reinsurance and working with dealerships and insurance third party administrators.
8+ years of Insurance or Financial Services experience related to Consumer Financial Products and Services – with a focus on product marketing, financial analysis and reporting.
Education:
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience preferred, advanced degree in a related field a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Program management experience at an auto OEM, captive finance company, independent auto Extended Warranty company, or marketing firm serving auto dealers
Solid quantitative, statistical, modeling and analytical skills – experience with insurance financial analysis and/or actuarial analysis a plus
Strong organizational/planning skills; resourceful and innovative problem-solving skills – focus on how to make things happen
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively engage with and present to all levels of management
Ability to facilitate collaboration with diverse groups – team oriented, but able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Self-directed and results-oriented – flexible, adaptable and hands-on approach
Strong PC: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Visio, Project; reporting software (Brio, Crystal, SAS, etc.); database and/or data warehouse management
French language skill a plus
