PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Specialist Car Maintenance Planning you will plan the execution and reporting of car maintenance programs, train servicing, and inspection requirements to ensure optimal alignment with customer requirements and service design while aligning with regulatory inspection policies.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Innovate new ways to manage, transform, and validate data while streamlining processes through automation
Analyze existing data and processes, providing recommendations for improvements that enhance business efficiency
Standardize and automate reporting workflows to drive accuracy and operational consistency
Build tools, dashboards, and governance models to enable high-quality data management
Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure seamless communication and solutions
Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to maintain compliance with policies governing car repair billing, train servicing, inspections, and reporting.
Lead key projects Industry projects, ensuring successful system migration and integration with Industry and Internal platforms
Support SAP Car Repair Billing (CRB) development initiatives, such as CRB mobility updates, alert creation, and automated notifications
Play an active role in Association of American Railroads (AAR) committee work and associated industry task forces to influence and implement new initiatives
Create and maintain dashboards and migrate existing reports into a unified platform for improved analytical capabilities and decision-making
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general equivalency; University degree is preferred
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in railcar or heavy equipment industries
2+ years of experience with AAR regulations and mechanical operational processes
2+ years of expertise in data analysis and problem-solving, with particular focus on root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues
Must meet Transport Canada and CPKC’s criteria for a certified Rail Car Apprentice or Mechanic and have thorough knowledge of transport Canada/FRA regulations
Familiarity with SAP systems (including custom table development, testing, and CRB integration)
Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and develop solutions aligned with organizational goals
Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
