About the Role:
As a Greenhouse General Labourer, you will play a vital role in either production or distribution, supporting daily greenhouse operations such as filling trays with soil/plants, sleeving, tagging, and labeling plants, and preparing orders for shipment. You’ll work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Fill trays with pots
Fill pots with soil efficiently and accurately
Plant and transplant herbs or vegetables
Ensure plants are to spec
Maintain clean and organized work areas before, during, and after shifts
Sleeve, tag, label, and prop plants as per order requirements
Box, wrap, and prepare plants for shipping
Ensure correct product counts and quality standards are met before shipment
General Greenhouse Duties:
Monitor plant health; report pests, diseases, or damage to supervisor
Follow established GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) and health and safety protocols
Perform general setup, cleanup, and other tasks as assigned
Work to ensure daily production and distribution targets are met
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Requirements:
Previous greenhouse or agricultural experience
Must wear CSA-approved steel-toe boots/shoes at all times
Comfortable with physical labour: standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks
Ability to work in a warm and humid greenhouse environment
Strong attention to detail to ensure plant health and product quality
Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
Adaptability to changing tasks, weather conditions, and seasonal workloads
Positive attitude and willingness to learn new techniques and procedures
Willingness to work extra hours during peak seasons and including possible Saturdays
