As a Designer 1 - Climb, you provide support to a team of designers to deliver on product solutions that align with the Arc’teryx design philosophies and continuously exceed our guests’ evolving needs. In this highly technical role, you assist in the continued evolution of how we design and approach apparel that encompasses all discipline of climb, with emphasis on alpine, rock and gym. Your work contributes to innovative, relevant and resolved outcomes that fit within our existing collections.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Designer 1 – Climb role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for:
Supporting the Senior Designer by sewing, concepting, creating patterns, mock-ups, prototypes, and by exploring, resolving, and proving new concepts and constructions techniques, both physical and in sketches
Attending and documentation athlete insight meetings and learning sessions
Supporting senior design members and complimenting existing collection sand/or product line plans by contributing to the execution of assigned projects within seasonal timelines
Supporting and contributing to detailed spec drawings, patterns, fit directions,and fabric information to initiate to product development
Coordinating with the materials team in testing new materials, ensuring necessary items are available for prototyping
Researching and creating design concepts through the en tirede sign process(sketch, proto, pre-production, etc) under the guidance of the Senior Designer
Maintaining up todate product illustrations through out the development process
Maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works with
Supporting with note taking and capturing key important takeaways during material development meetings and sketch process review meetings
Ensuring all projects maintain clear and up todate documentation
Supporting the team in scheduling flow for development stages and continuously charting line plan progress
Facilitating share back of work during product and sketch reviews
Partnering closely with Product Development teams, fit and patternmaking collaborators, and working closely with factory/sourcing partners
Here are some things you could be working on in the future:
Owning and overseeing all aspects of model creation - from ethos, to plans, through to production, you could grow to oversee alpine specific products
Partnering directly with athletes on product evolutions, feedback insights and relationship building
Are you our next Designer 1 - Climb?
You have a degree in apparel design, with3+years hands-on experience designing apparel
You are technically proficient with 3 years’ experience using the Adobe Suite, and/or digital pattern software,CLO3D (or the equivalent software)
You have intermediate knowledge, skill and ability in the design process, sketching, sewing and garment construction
You have proven technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products
You have the capability to create tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
You inspire break through thinking and continuous improvement
You are attentive to all the minute details, highly organized, and conscientious of timelines and deliverables
Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
You demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration
Your remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast paced, diverse, ever evolving and values led environment
You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best(sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right

$70,000 - $85,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$70,000 - CAD$85,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates with demonstrated expertise that is above job requirements or who bring exceptional directly transferable experience.
Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
