The Teaching, Immersion & English Refinement (TIER) Program is a two-week professional development program for professors from the Universidad del Atlántico, combining English language refinement (B1–B2 levels) with training in English-Medium Instruction (EMI). The teaching assistant will lead afternoon Interactive Language Lab sessions designed to develop participants’ spoken fluency, listening comprehension, professional communication skills, and confidence in using English in academic and real-world contexts. Activities include guided discussions, simulations of academic situations, vocabulary development, pronunciation practice, and reflective sharing linked to morning academic content and cultural excursions. The program follows an integrated four-skills approach (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) and includes grammar review, vocabulary development, study skills, use of IT resources, learning strategies, and intercultural competence. The approach is student-centered, interactive, and task-based, with emphasis on formative evaluation. Requirements: Capacity to facilitate group work through a student-centered, task-based learning approach and to explain the English verb system, sentence structure, and academic vocabulary to second language learners. Previous ESL training and classroom experience is an asset; classroom multimedia experience is an asset; excellent command of the English language; interview may be required.
