Reporting to the Director, Systems Solutions, the Senior System Engineer will
contribute to the Lightspeed program in conducting advance performance
assessment studies for system configurations as needed to provide solution for
complex customer needs. Using his / her expertise in satellite communications,
orbital configuration and large communication networks, the candidate will
define solutions with enough details to enable implementation across the
Lightspeed system.

Main Responsibilities
- Develop new solutions to commercial needs using the Telesat Lightspeed
system, including among others solutions for low latency high capacity
services, hosted satellite (space relay) services, mobile services, and other
new configurations to support opportunities.
- Support sales activities by evaluating complex use cases using Telesat
internal and commercially available simulation tools.
- Evaluate system performance boundaries by incorporating realistic user
traffic profiles and terminal mix.
- Help prepare and manage feature development roadmap in collaboration with
commercial and engineering teams by evaluating value-add.
- Develop technical documentation and reports.
- Prepare and deliver high quality technical presentations supporting the
delivery of solutions.
Education and Experience Required
- B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 5 years
of relevant experience in satellite communications or other large
communication systems.
- Experience in system simulations and service performance assessments.
- Programming experience in Matlab and / or Python.
- Knowledge of radio communication systems and/or satellite communication is
desirable (experience with link budgets is an asset).
