Career Opportunity Role Title Actuarial Coop – ALM (8 Month contract) Purpose of role As an actuarial Co-op in the ALM team, you will work closely with actuarial staff in a dynamic and challenging environment and is responsible for providing analytical support for the company’s asset and liability management functions to measure and analyze risk profile. The incumbent will gain exposure across a wide range of actuarial disciplines including financial modeling, solvency requirements, valuation and management reporting, insurance/annuity products and fraternal benefits analysis for Canada, the U.S and U.K. He or she will gain experience working with comprehensive financial modelling systems that utilize a variety of actuarial, spreadsheet, database, and reporting software. Note: • Positions are open to students of different levels • This is a hybrid position with 2 days per week working in Toronto office Job Description Key Responsibilities Support the ALM and Risk functions through evaluating strategic/tactical proposals, performing sensitivity analysis, and supporting Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) related activities. Improve documentation, model governance, and model risk management for ALM models Work closely with other teams such as Corporate Actuarial, Capital Management, Pricing, Risk, Investments, Finance and IT, allowing you to gain valuable work exposure across functions. Assist, develop and implement changes in ALM reporting. Support the preparation of the annual Appointed Actuary Report. Key Qualifications Undergrad actuarial student writing actuarial exams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical, technical skills and fast learner.
