What we offer
The Vice-President, Cabinetry & Millwork will provide tactical, operational, and
strategic leadership over all aspects of SAMI’s Cabinetry business unit. This
role will have full P&L responsibility within the business unit and will be
accountable for ensuring efficient, cost-effective, profitable, and timely
operations. The successful individual will work closely with the General Manager
and will be held accountable for all elements of sales and operational
excellence within their business unit, including but not limited to product
quality, business processes, on-time delivery, continuous improvement, safety,
customer satisfaction, revenue, and profitability. The ideal candidate is
data-driven and brings a blend of business acumen, world class manufacturing
expertise, operational know-how, exceptional people leadership skills, and a
strategic mindset.
What you’ll do
- In collaboration with the GM, develop and execute the business unit’s
strategic plan in alignment with overall company objectives
- Manage the full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the business unit,
ensuring revenue and profitability targets are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and
internal stakeholders to enhance business opportunities
- In partnership with the GM and department heads (Supply Chain, Finance,
Technology, People & Culture), develop and oversee budgets, forecasts, and
financial performance metrics to drive cost efficiency and margin improvement
- Ensure SAMI is world-class in operational and manufacturing excellence;
oversee manufacturing operations, ensuring high levels of productivity,
quality, and efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing practices, and
process optimization
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company
policies
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability,
collaboration, and innovation, while ensuring a safe and inclusive work
environment
- Represent the business unit in executive leadership team meetings, industry
events, and external engagements
- Contribute to new product development initiatives and business
diversification efforts
- Continuously monitor advancements in manufacturing best practices,
technology, automation, engineering, and hardware innovation to recommend and
implement cutting-edge solutions
- Other duties as required
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related
field; MBA preferred
- Fifteen or more years of progressive manufacturing or industrial operations
experience, minimum five years at senior leadership level
- Strong business acumen with a proven track record of driving P&L performance,
revenue growth, and operational excellence
- Robust understanding of automation and technology in manufacturing
environments
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement
methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead and mentor a team while fostering a
culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of
financial and project management processes
- Entrepreneurial mindset; hands-on experience in the set-up of new
manufacturing plants; decisive with a demonstrated capability in navigating
ambiguity
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated expertise in leadership and
collaboration
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
Bonus Points
- P. Eng., Lean Six Sigma, PMP designations an asset
- Previous exposure to highly automated and roboticized environments preferred
- Experience with manufacturing wood-based products at a large scale preferred
