Senior Accountant:
This position is responsible for assisting the Finance Department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, assisting with financial analysis and other projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting and finance
Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
Prepare monthly journal entries
Month end close process
Perform various control reconciliations including bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory reconciliations
Perform various balance sheet reconciliations including inter-company
Fixed asset accounting
IFRS Lease accounting
Cross train and serve as back up for other accounting duties/leadership
Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process under the guidance of the Accounting Manager
Preparation of year end schedules to support corporate reporting and audit requirements
Assist with compiling information for both internal and external audits throughout the year
Preparation of various ad hoc financial reports and other projects as required
Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
5 years of accounting experience
IFRS experience is preferred
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency with ERP systems such as D365 and AS400 is preferred
Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Very strong working knowledge of Excel such as V Lookup, tables etc.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and work well under pressure
Excellent time management and organization skills required, very high attention to detail
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
Problem solving skills and the ability to take command and ownership of projects, driving them to timely, efficient, and accurate completion
Ability to multitask on projects requiring broad skill sets, while maintaining high standards of work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities
Thoroughness and ability to work collectively as part of a team
