Job DescriptionValuations inform key decisions for the Fund, including asset allocation, risk management and financial reporting. Therefore, accurate, robust, timely and objective valuations are critical for delivering on our mandate and maintaining the trust and confidence of our stakeholders. The Valuations Group oversees valuation practices for all asset classes, geographies and strategies to provide assurance that all valuations serve the various business functions and needs across CPP Investments. Reporting to the Director, Valuations, as a Manager, you will be primarily accountable for completion of the day-to-day valuation work, including contributing to the development of new valuation models and designing key mitigating controls to manage within reasonable limits. You will also assist with quarterly portfolio-level reporting to various stakeholders including the deal teams, Valuation Committee, Board Committees, and external auditors, generating insights that will enhance valuation practices. Team Summary The Valuations Group oversees valuation practices for all asset classes, geographies and strategies to provide assurance that all valuations serve the various business functions and needs across CPP Investments. AccountabilitiesPlan and execute elements of the valuation processes and provide insightful valuation analysis to proactively identify material quarterly valuation movements. Work closely with Investment professionals worldwide to execute on the valuation process and onboard new deals as well as cross-functionally with other departments to ensure alignment with our vision, goals, and values. Manage external valuation process with advisors and auditors. Prepare detailed valuation reports and valuation highlights for inclusion in communication with deal teams, Valuation Committee, Audit Committee, and other board level reporting. Independently build and review complex financial models, assess, challenge, and test sensitivities. Stratify and analyze large data sets to identify historical performance trends, detect correlations, identify key value drivers, and perform calibration. Monitor global market events and quickly design valuation sensitivities and tests to assess the impact on a macro-basis. Conduct independent, thorough reviews and quality assurance checks on valuation work products to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established methodologies and best practices. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging valuation methodologies, and best practices; identify areas for improvement and implement them in the valuation processes/frameworks. Provide mentorship for junior colleagues within the group. QualificationsUndergraduate degree or college diploma in related field (i.e., Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, etc.) 6+ years of relevant experience in professional valuation services firms, pension funds, private equity and/or investment banking Completion or near completion of at least one relevant professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV, etc.).
