Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our Litigation group in our Calgary office. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and hardworking team player, regular working hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Standard Responsibilities
Draft, format, and prepare legal correspondence and court documents with a high level of accuracy
Enter and manage timekeeping and billing records using firm software
Prepare and reconcile expense reports
Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems, including a bring-forward system for critical deadlines
Monitor and manage limitation dates and court deadlines
File court documents in accordance with the Kings Bench and Court of Appeal rules and procedures
Provide overflow support to other team members as required
Perform a variety of general administrative tasks to support legal professionals
Qualifications
Legal Administrative Assistant certification from an accredited post-secondary institution
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a litigation-focused legal environment
Strong understanding of litigation processes, rules, and court procedures
Proficient in Kings Bench and Court of Appeal filing requirements
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft 365)
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting
Highly organized with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
Professional and client-service focused, with strong attention to detail
Dependable, adaptable, and committed to producing high-quality work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
